See How They Grow!

In May, Playschool planted a selection of seeds during our unit on plants. The morning and afternoon group each planted pumpkin, carrot and bean seeds. We also rooted a sweet potato. Every few days Playschool watered, and checked the progress of the plants noting the changes. When school concluded in June, Ms. Todd transferred the young plants into her garden.

How many beans?

The beans from the tall bean stalks have been picked and they tasted crunchy!

The sweet potato has large leaves and when they turn black I will know that I can dig up the sweet potatoes.

The rabbit who visits my garden has been munching on some of the carrots, only a few carrot tops remain.

The pumpkin plants are amazing to watch grow as they spread their leafy vines out into the lawn. There are at least 6 pumpkins on each plant. Slowly with the rain and the sun they are growing larger and starting to turn orange.

The pumpkins will come to school in October for use during the letter Pp week for pumpkin. I can't wait to show you!
