For PE the students in grades 1 through 6 have been going
skating. This week I was lucky enough to join them. After a nice walk to the
rink and the rigmarole of putting on and lacing numerous skates, the students
were ready to skate.
Some of the students practice their new found skating
abilities and practice keeping their balance with the help of the teachers.
For fun, this week the some of the kids brought hockey
sticks and pucks and we went through a few basic hockey drills. The compact
layer of snow on top of the ice made the skills more challenging but the kids rose
to the challenge and seemed to enjoy it.
Of course after practicing the hockey drills the students were already
to play a game of shinny!
